Weedle is a sweet girl with a super smooth, wide body and a full lower hindquarter. She has done well on the show tables and has earned 1 leg, but unfortunately for her, there often weren’t enough rabbits entered for a leg to be awarded, or she was always up against one of our other blue does who placed ahead of her. (That doe, Bluebird, many times went on to win BOB or BOSB, so she was stiff competition.)

She’s by our winningest buck, Lots-a-Hop’s Tungsten, a beautiful Registered Grand Champion steel buck with an impressive 33 legs, including 4 BOB, 3 BOSB, and many group wins!  I’d fault her for wider-set ears that could be a bit more open, but otherwise, I was really looking forward to using this doe in our program and getting blue steels, before we decided to part with our steel program.

We included GT Steel in her name because, though she’s phenotypically blue, she is a genetic steel. As a junior, she actually had some gold ticking over her body, especially around her ears and nape, but when she finished her adult coat, she lost almost all trace of steeling. By having this as part of her name, it won’t be lost or hidden in future generations when looking back at a pedigree.
